BARK System

This spring, the students will be encouraged to follow our class rules and make good choices through the BARK Positive Classroom Plan. BARK is an acronym that stands for the expectations of our classroom community:

Be a good listener
Always follow the directions
Respect yourself and others
Keep your hands and feet to yourself

Students who make good choices will receive BARK Bucks. Each student will have the opportunity to earn at least 4 BARK Bucks every day - two for handing in all homework and unpacking their bags on time, one for behavior in the morning, and one for behavior in the afternoon. In addition, any time I catch a student exhibiting particularly positive behavior, I will award a bonus BARK Buck.

Instead of using paper money, students record the BARK bucks they earn on the back of their BARK cards. I also keep a record of how many have been earned so that there is no mix-up.

On the last day of each week, students will have the opportunity to purchase rewards with their BARK Bucks. A menu of options will be provided based on student interest and availability. The rewards and the prices will change throughout the year in order to maintain student interest and motivation.
